I use YouTube TV as my television service and would like my Samsung TV to start up on that instead of TVPlus. Is there a way to change the default startup app?

Unfortunately, this does not work, I even turn the Samsung TV Plus setting off. Is there another step I am missing?

I managed to get my Samsung Frame to stop  defaulting to autoplaying  Samsung TV Plus  - but it still does not autorun my favorite streaming app

But at least I managed to stop the TV to autoplay TV Plus whenever we turn it on

What I did;

I selected S-TV Plus,  got a drop down menu, selected Remove/Delete - which in turn opened a new window where I selected Disable.
That got rid of Samsung TV Plus

I still want to use TV plus on occasion so I got it back by selecting “Source” and then Samsung TV

The result is that it now starts up with with Source pre-selected every time  but that’s a better option for us than starting with autoplay of Samsung TV Plus (which may show content not suitable to our kids)

Not ideal, but an improvement.

Your focus is on Autorun Last App feature, but what we really need is a Set Startup App feature so we can simply set what we want the tv to startup to.

Apparently this can be done in the Service Mode Menu, which can be accessed by the following:

When TV is powered OFF:

Press the following keys: INFO>SETTINGS (or menu)>MUTE>POWER.

Google Samsung TV Service Mode for more info.

I went to the start setup. Under settings-general-start setup and reset the start setup. I put that I have no outside cable or hdmi service. This allowed me to use the last app used feature and my you tube by comes up if I used it last

I found a brute force way to do this, but it requires buying a Firestick and plugging it into HDMI1 port of the Samsung Smart TV.

Step 1:  enable “hospitality” mode on the hidden TV menu.  Power on samsung TV and on the remote type in:

Mute-1-1-9-enter

this will bring up the hidden TV menu.

Hospitality mode:  “ON” then click return button.

Power ON menu option : use arrows on remote to click on the menu option, switch “power on source” from “TV” to “HDMI1”

Now power off the TV.  Plug in the Firestick to the HDMI1 port.   Turn on TV and go to Source-> HDMI1.   Open Youtube TV app on Firestick and login to your account.  Start watching live TV.

Turn off TV while still watching live TV in the Youtube App on Firestick.

now turn off TV.

Voila, when you power on TV again the TV starts in the Youtuve TV app instead of the annoying Samsung TV Plus channels.

According to a session I just had with Samsung, it looks like any third party app is devoid of working with the Last App feature.  In order for Last App to work it can only be one of the default applications that comes with the out-of-the-box setup.

Hello!  Please tell me you found a way to use Google Assistant for voice control with YouTube TV?  I have it to order my channels by most watched.  But, if I want to watch a program on a channel that I rarely watch, I have to scroll through 100 channels to find it.  Ugghhh.  The Bixby and Google Assistant voice controls are useless for me.  I cannot figure out how to: (a) Tell the remote to go to a channel or a program on YouTube TV or Paramount+ or Prime Video.  (b) I cannot tell the remote to change connected device to a different input device.  (c) I cannot tell it to return to the last watched program.  Basically, Google Assistant does nothing for me on the TV.  Compare it to the Google TV device I have on other older TV's that do everything I want.  "Go to CNBC on YouTube TV."  Not a problem.

Has anyone figured out a way around this?  How can you watch YouTube TV without the ability to go to specific channels?

Just bought a new Samsung tv and having the same problem reported here. I have used Settings to auto select the last used app. The tv ignores the setting and seems to select whichever app it chooses. Am I missing something here?

This worked for me.  Now when I turn on the TV it goes straight to the last channel I was watching on YouTube TV instead of going to the normal start screen.
