I use YouTube TV as my television service and would like my Samsung TV to start up on that instead of TVPlus. Is there a way to change the default startup app?

I had maybe a similar experience. I have a Smart Hub that is connected to my soundbar. So the Smart Hub is plugged into its own port in the back of the tv. So when I go through the process there's no real way of designating that part as the default port. So I turned off the auto run last feature. Now when I power up the TV I just get an option to select the input but I just hit my home button on my Smart Remote and that brings up the smart menu where I just choose YouTube tv. Makes sense? But if somebody has a better solution I'd be interested! I'd love for to just turn the TV on and have YouTube come up automatically. Haven't figured it out yet.

Blame the product owners? I was literally in bed sleeping when my downstairs tv took an update & suddenly the next morning Samsung tv plus was my default tv source. Nobody else was home. So sorry, but no, this isn't anything the product owner did.
At a minimum they need to have a way to easily change the default source. Otherwise they're basically forcing it on you. If they want to offer themselves as an alternate to a cable provider, this (annoying & upsetting customers) is not the way to do it.

I'm in the same boat here and it's super frustrating. If I disable Samsung TV plus, then every time I start the TV, it goes to a blank screen to tell me that the antenna has been disconnected. Auto Run last app has not worked once. When Samsung TV plus is enabled, it becomes the default app for a Source... So why can't you change the default app??? Super frustrating and lame Samsung. Seems like my only option is to get another Roku or start it up with my PS5 source. DUMB

Samsung updates microcode patches automatically, if you leave it connected to the internet.

It may be a matter of support:
Samsung may not want to play nicey-nicey with another vendor’s app (think “YouTube TV”). There are a whole mess of reasons Samsung may not want to screw with somebody else’s app, to the point of going into somebody else’s app to modify anything, perhaps a program flag needs to be set in any app that wants to be auto run. One vendor will NEVER alter another vendor’s programming… there would be a butt-load of lawsuits.

No answer for this yet? Last App does nothing. And TV plus played some pretty inappropriate stuff today. Fix you software.

Hey mike. Did you look further up the thread? There's a solution that I found involving using the Hotel menu to eliminate TV plus as the default startup app. I did it. It wasn't perfect. But at least I eliminated TV plus. Now when I turn my TV on I get a blank screen asking me to choose my input and I just hit the home button and go to my YouTube TV app I wish there was a more elegant solution. But at least I don't have to kill that TV Plus ***** that shows on my TV every time I turn it on.

Thanks, so much to sift through. Seems this issue has been a problem for years. Seems we should be able to set our screen however we want.

Hey Mike period I took a few minutes and found the post I was referring to. I'm pasting it here for you and anybody else. It's a little techy, but if you follow the instructions in the YouTube video it's not as hard as you think. I did it and I'm not majorly techy. It is infuriating that there's not a simpler fix for this. But I was about to pull my hair out just like you. So at least I don't have to view the horrible TV plus Channel every time I turn on my tv. Hope this helps. Good luck.

TVGet into the service menu (Don't change any other settings other than what is in this post) video from Youtube on how to get into service menu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC1hUxKYLa8&t=29s . Then go to SM>Control>Hotel Options>Hospitality Mode (ON)>Power On Source>HDMI/DVI (On) or change Power on Source to HDMI then restart tv. Hold power button to restart TV. Found instruction here https://en.tab-tv.com/?p=23767 . *side note ... If you leave "Autostart last app" on in smart features (in settings menu) in turned on then by that will override hdmi setting. Had to to set this up for an elderly couple because the tv would always go to Samsung TV plus and the gentleman was not a happy camper

There is an earlier post that is easier and accomplishes the same thing. Scroll to the Samsung tv plus app and instead of clicking to open it, hold the button down for 5 seconds. You then select “remove” app, but the next step gives you the option to simply “disable” it.
