I use YouTube TV as my television service and would like my Samsung TV to start up on that instead of TVPlus. Is there a way to change the default startup app?

As of 5/24/2024 Go to settings -General-Smart Features -- you can choose "Autorun Last App"  So if you have it on YouTube TV when you turn off the TV, the next time you turn it on, it starts with YouTube TV.

Works fine on my Samsung.

That literally still does not work on my Samsung TV. The real solution is to buy an Apple TV. Amazing user interface, best TV out there by far.

After hours and hours on chat lines with reps I finally found out why autorun last app does not work on two of my smart tvs.  These tvs are a little older--UN7100 series and UN6900 series.  As it turns out, on the older tvs, the Smart Features setting of autorun last app really  means autorun last source.  Shame on Samsung for not allowing the older tvs to return to the last app, e.g., sling, YouTubeTV, etc., but rather will select the last source that was uses in the sources list. Double shame on Samsung that the descriptor in Smart Features is confusing and if the tv can only return to the last source and cannot autoload the last app, then it should say "autorun last source"   Samsung finally admitted to me this is a known issue and it is unclear whether they will ever provide a software update to fix it.  Disappointing.  I will point out however, that on the newer QLED models the autorun last app works perfectly---except for one condition.  If you happen to have an internet outage, and then the internet returns, the autorun last app will default to Samsung TV Plus.  If you unselect the autorun last app feature and reselect it, then go into your third party app, the tv will return to that app on restart--at least on the QLED models.  Probably on the OLEDs too.

It worked once when I turned off the TV and turned it back on.  When the TV was off for any length of time, it did not work.  So it appears it doesn't hold the settings from day to day.

It's been 4 years from the first post.

Samsung team, are you planning to solve this bug?
