Hi @Philip75  you do not name your model , the  My5 app is longer supported on 2012 Samsung Tv's and Blu Ray players.  However if more modern than that should be fine.   Check you have the latest firmware update  https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/  Regarding resets did do you a Smart Hub and Factory Reset? You may need to update or reinstall the app. For further information see here https://help.channel5.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360003804478-My5-not-working-properly-on-a-Samsung-TV    My5 works fine for me on a 2017 model.

Indeed, televisions, set top boxes and BluRay players don't support apps indefinitely. The broadcasters maintain the apps and have certain hardware and DRM requirements that older tech does not support. If you have a tablet then consider a Chromecast because they provide much better flexibility going forwards. It's what I use with my old Samsung 5 series TV. Picture quality and sound is spot on

Yes, certainly other options if your TV is no longer compatible such as Chrome cast and Amazon fire stick. May want to have  a look at his article.  https://www.whathifi.com/best-buys/digital-tv-boxes/best-tv-streaming-boxes
