TVHi,
I've just dropped my SkyQ and want to figure out the best way to connect the dish to my TV to receive freesat.
The research I've done so far suggests I'll either need to replace the LNB on the dish, or buy a new Freesat box that's wideband compatible.
Before I do anything, I just want to confirm if anyone knows whether the QN800A does accept a wideband satellite signal. Being a more recent TV, I thought it was worth checking before making any purchases.
Thanks in advance for any assistance here!
Gavin

TVWas this using cables from a Sky Q dish?
I've tried using the auto-settings with Freesat, and it seems to pull in the channel guide fine, but none of the channels are working.
I did speak to Samsung support who seemed to be saying the TV can deal with a wideband signal, which suggests I need to find the right settings for Freesat.

TV@GAVINJS Pretty sure the Tv is compatible with wideband Freesat signal(though do not see it mentioned in any specifications). yes the LNB would need to be replaced for the built in Freesat . https://www.freesat.co.uk/news/tech/what-you-need-for-freesat https://www.smartaerials.co.uk/blog/new-freesat-wideband-lnb-system-benefits-solutions

TVHi
Thank you for these posts. I have to say I'm pretty confused. Freesat seem to be saying that their box will work with a Sky Q dish without needing a new LNB (as I understand because their latest boxes support wideband - that suggests that Sky have not totally locked down their LNB to only work with sky boxes).
Samsung are saying their box supports wideband, and it claims also to support Freesat. But I cannot get it working with the auto-settings. The guide populates, but none of the channels work (which suggests that there's a problem somewhere in Samsung's kit, if Freesat box can accept the cables from a Sky wideband LNB).
I think my choices are:
1) buy a new LNB and connect direct to the Samsung box
2) buy a new freesat box and connect it to the Samsung
Obvs option 1 is cheapest, but totally open to any final comments on the best path here.
Many thanks again,
Gavin

TV@GAVINJS Think the Built in version will only work if the Skyq wideband lnb replaced with universal or hybrid lnb . Would be cheaper option but more involved. Would not need to change with the 4k Freesat Box.

TVAgreed. It's all pretty confusing. Samsung's last message on this was:
"Your TV supports, wideband LNB signal, though the dish that you are using is from sky, which might be only compatible to their device, and the wideband LNB signal that they are using might be different form the usual LNB signal that is why some channels are not working."
I'd get that if Sky wideband did not work with Freesat boxes. But if it does, what's stopping Samsung from making it work? One thing I have struggled to find is a list of settings (perhaps from a working Freesat box), just to confirm that the auto-settings are correct.
I'll try to remember to post an update on my solution here as I found a lot of threads suggesting the same problem but not many had a conclusive update...
And thanks again for the help here!

TVSo I finally got a replacement LNB, which works with Sky (and says it has a 70 signal strength and 90 signal quality).
The Samsung TV, when I have the dish connected directly to it, is doing exactly as it did when I had the Sky Wideband LNB. Scans. Finds around 190 channels. But the EPG is not populating and every channel is saying No Signal.
This is the LNB I've bought. Any ideas on anything I can try? I've redone the setup a few times.
