I just purchased a Samsung TV and a onn. 36" sound bar. The sound bar has two HDMI ports (HDMI and HDMI ARC). I connect the first HDMI cable from my video sources (Roku, DVD..etc) into the HDMI in on the TV. I connect the second HDMI cable from the TV's HDMI eARC to the HDMI ARC port on the sound bar. The TV recognizes the port and it appears in the audio menu. I select it, the little dancing green bars appear, there is no sound and after about seconds the TV removes the HDMI ARC and goes back to TV for audio. I can set up the audio on the sound bar as HDMI or HDMI ARC. I've tried just about everything I can think of and I'm not having any luck getting this to work. I can connect the to the sound bar via Blue Tooth, but I would rather use the HDMI cable. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or, is eARC and ARC not compatible?
