Hi
I have a UE55RU7400U and I cannot connect it to my 5Ghz WiFi, I read that everyone have this issue, is there any kind of fix or what?
asking for info on amazon, manufacturer answer: we suggest to connect to 2.4Ghz cause the internal module is certified for that frequency

I was extremely disappointed to find out that the TV doesn't support 5Ghz, though it supports WiFi 802.11/ac. Is it locked in software level, or it is a hardware limit?

This is an old post but hope my story will help.
Samsung TV appears not compatible with 5Ghz if your Wifi Channel is higher than 36. I've been having similar problem. I have unifi AP so I was able to change my channel to 36 (tried 38 and 40 with no luck). 36 channel is the only one my Samsung TV can connect to. Hope this help.

Hey,
I changed my channel to 36 and still could not see my wifi 5ghz on Samsung RU7400. Can you help me please?

Well, after deeper investigation RU7400 is one of Samsung's TV not supporting 5GHz network. This is discribed in the manual. In my case I have another series that is compatible.

BT max transmitter power : 100mW at 2.4GHz – 2.4835GHz
Wi-Fi max transmitter power : 100mW at 2.4GHz–2.4835GHz

Can you connect a 5ghz USB Wi-Fi adapter to this TV, really struggling with the 2.4ghz internal module speeds for streaming?

Did you find a way around this? Keen to try a USB 5ghz adaptor

Did you manage to connect with 5ghz by doing this?

You can’t connect to 5ghz on ru7400. It only supports 2.4ghz. I got a mi box & use its 5ghz. Flawless

Thanks for the reply, I have a mi box and a few chromecast devices. Was interested to know if anyone had successfully used a 5ghz USB adaptor, conflicting information around compatibility
