"UKTV Play" app

Hi, is the "UKTV Play" app (an on-demand video app for Freeview UK channels like Dave,etc) available on any Samsung TVs in the UK? If so, which ones? If not, why not? Will it arrive in the future? At what date?

It's part of "Freeview Play", as supported by Panasonic, LG, JVC, Hisense, Bush and Finlux.

I have a UE40F6400AK from 2013, when I got it I used to be able to go into the web browser and view IPlayer or 4OD (as it was then called) through the internet, they had additional functionality over the apps, the web IPlayer let you view live TV and reset to the start of a show you may have missed by 20 mins rather than having to wait for it to be uploaded to the app, Web based 4OD had shows the app didn't.

I noticed a steady stream of software 'upgrades' and progressively it got harder to login to the web-based catchup services with logins not being accepted, at the start I could access through Google accounts but after a while that stopped working. Then I couldn't even access those pages, clicking on the ITV player page just reloaded the main ITV page, I couldn't even get onto the page to try and login. Same with 4OD and IPLayer, just can't login to any of them, other pages continue to load fine.

Recently ITV rebranded as ITVX, I noticed another 'upgrade', first for years, I stupidly accepted, it deleted the old ITV app but didn't replace it.

So now I've lost  a quarter of my catchup apps and my web access to their internet sites, my TV is losing functions with age, like you I'm not impressed and I'm looking elsewhere for my replacement.

Hi @Loofer. It's the app developers that create and maintain the apps hosted on our TV's. If they no longer wish to create or update the apps for a particular model, they then remove them or they lose certain functions. For more information, we recommend contacting the app developer directly.

To find UKTV Play on a Samsung smart tv, go to APPS on the Home Screen, then scroll down and click on Video, there you will find probable a hundred different apps, click on the UKTV Play to install, once you have installed and registered the channel you may need to return to the APPS to add to the Home Screen, click and hold on the app until 'add to Home Screen' is shown as an option.
