I have just bought a new Qled QE65q7fn - and it is not working with Sky Q properly. When the system has been in standby for a number of hours the sky is no longer recognised by the TV’s hdmi 1. It keeps saying power it on when it already is. A reboot of sky then sorts it. I cannot unplug the Sky Q every time I want to use it !! My Sky Q box was fine with the previous Panasonic though. Not sure what to do now. I have got hdmi ON on both devices. I have eco off on both- and all combinations. Quite a few people on the Sky forums are having this issue.
Any solutions at all ?

@Spenda yes, changimng the HDMI control setting can solve some issues, though obviously a variety of fixes.

Thanks. How do you turn off HDMI? The process?
Would doing this affect the picture quality?

I started this thread some 2 years ago - and i cannot believe its still a problem ! Personally i realised immediately it was not going to work so swapped TV for a Panasonic (luckily shop agreed to exchange) and its been great ever since. I would personally avoid Samsung for this reason.

Hi @JacquieT,
In SkyQ go to settings > setup > audio visual > HDMI control and set to off. This has no influence on the picture quality; I get UHD and HDR where available.
Hope that helps.

@Spenda @JacquieT Yes agree, turning HDMI control off will have no affect on the picture quality, so can rest assured on that score.

I'm setting up my Q85R for the first time. Netflix etc works but the tv doesn't recognise the sky q box. It's saying no signal hdmi3. Any ideas

Hi Daz
Sorry but I'm mostly a muddle through and learn as I go along girl.
I recall I had to find the local Sky transmission centre and pair that up. Also just called sky and got an engineer to talk me through the set up.
Good luck, Jacquie

Hi
i have now tried everyone's suggestions but sadly still not working. In fact got worse with TV itself sending out error messages.
Giving up now and will buy another TV - probably Panasonic and put main TV upstairs on ini box. I don't watch that much so it won't matter.
Thanks for trying, Jacquie

4 years on and I am having the same problem. My new Samsung 65” QN90B each night when switched off Keeps losing connection with my sky q box.
only remedy I have figured out (until reading this) was to switch off the sky q box at the wall and switch back on, which seems to connect it all back up…but this is extremely frustrating.
I will try the suggestions in this thread such as removing eco mode on the sky q box and changing the HDMI control setting. hopefully this will solve it but in the meantime, if anyone else has figured out why this is happening and how to fix (if the above doesn’t work) I am all ears!
not sure if it was on this thread or another about lip sync issues. I have had this once (only had the tv a few days) and was when watching bbc iplayer…did it a few time (went out of sync) so turned the iplayer off and back on which sorted it…can’t decide if this was the tv or the bbc iplayer…if anyone more more tech savvy than me has any ideas, let me know. I don’t have a sound bar, so nothing to do with that.
the problem is, when you have 1 issue you lose confidence FAST and any other discrepancies you immediately think it’s the tv (well I do). it may even be setting/config related, which I am still trying to figure out…all ears if anyone has suggestions on optimum settings audio and visual…typically just watch HD via the sky q box and occasionally UHD on the likes of Disney + or iplayer etc.
cheers

So…I have tried a few different things now. I have had my main sky a box replaced as well as my mini box.
I noticed that over night and when the tv is switched back on, the tv recognises that there is a connection to the sky mini box…however it believes the box is off/in standby…however the standby light on the box is green suggesting it is on! The strange thing is…I can’t put the box into standby using the remote…like it is stuck. So I had a brain wave, just manually put the sky q mini box into standby each night. That seemed to sort it…however after a few days the box got stuck in standby and similar to when it was stuck in green…the remote did nothing.
I now strongly believe that this is a sky issue and what I think is that when the sky says there is no connection…I suspect this is because the box has gone into standby…but has got stuck on the active/green light….which can’t be switched off/on using the remote and can only be done by switching off at the wall.
One thing I can’t answer is why it has only started happening when I got my new Samsung tv and was fine on my previous LG tv?
either way, after all of the troubleshooting steps and things I have noticed over the last few weeks I am veering towards it being a sky box/software issue.
if anyone else is having similar issues and has any observations, I am happy to hear.
