Q90 WiFi issues

Guys

Recently purchased a QE55Q90RAT. The TV runs through a Virgin Media V3 TV box and Router. I've recently 'discovered' Echo devices so quite enjoy controlling my TV through the SmartThings Ap and Alexa.

I'm having a problem that's absolutely doing my head in at the moment! When the TV is on everything is fine, channel change, volume by voice control and TV off, brilliant. When I try to turn the TV on by voice control my Exho device reports that the TV not connected to WiFi?
it seems that when the TV is switched off it also turns off the WiFi facility?? Surely this is not correct is it?

I've tried contacting Samsung via telephone (just rings and rings), via email (no response)!

any ideas guys?
