Optical LG sound bar volume control stopped working

A few weeks ago I picked up the samsung AU9000 50 inch TV. My LG soundbar is optical only and luckily it worked fine and volume was controlled via the Samsung remote. I unplugged both to move them to another part of the room today and whilst the sound still comes out of the sound bar the Samsung remote no longer controls the volume. I can’t seem to find any option that will bring this feature back that was working earlier today.

@Ewokmic: To control your soundbar using the TV Remote, please register the soundbar by heading to Home > Source > Universal Remote, and follow the on screen instructions. Please ensure that there are no obstacles in the way of the soundbar and TV logo, as this can block the remote signal.
