Optical cable lock release

Hello
Anyone knows how to unplug the optical cable connection on the Samsung TV QLED qe55q60aauxxu 55?
I bought a converter which came with a cable that I need to remove for return but it seems the connection at the back of the TV is locked in. I can't work out how to remove this and don't want to use force at the risk of damaging the TV  connector.  I would keep it on but I feel the cable is a poor quality one that needs to go.
Annoying thing!

Also there's no difference with optical cables, they either work or don't at all. Don't be sucked in by the lure of gold plated braded cables that promise superior signals because an Amazon basics cable is perfectly fine. The same applies to HDMI cables
