Missing sound via Smarthub internet connection

I have a TV model number LT24D390S. I live on a steel boat and do not use the TV - I only stream through my wifi. I can load BBC Sounds via the internet app but weirdly, without sound! No bar appears either. Audio on Youtube works fine.
