So, of the nigh on 400 TVs supported in BBC iplayer for the Blue Planet II  HLG episodes none are from Samsung. Oh joy.

...

Moderator edit: Original thread title was "Blue Planet 2 HLG - No Samsung". With the OP's permission, the title was changed on 12/03/2018 to accurately reflect the dominant theme of the thread as it has progressed. If the reader would like to know more about the HLG format, please check out the BBC's page and FAQ's on it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/projects/high-dynamic-range Thank you, AntS.

Perhaps trying it on a Wired Ethernet adapter like this:

Are you saying that the Chromecast Ultra has the UHD Iplayer app?  I'd love to hardwire the Roku SS+ but it is strictly WIFI only. I don't know of any other boxes or sticks that have the UHD Iplayer.

Are you saying this will work with Roku +  I'm not buying if it's not known to work

Is not advertised as being compatible, and from all I've managed to gleen, will not work with Roku SS+ as it has a different OS to Chromecast and Amazon fire tv .

I don't think it will work. Below was posted on Amazon in response to this question:

"Simple answer is no. The difference between the Roku and the Chomecast and 2017 Amazon Fire TV Stick is their operating systems (O/Ss) include a driver supporting a common USB ethernet adaptor whereas the Roku O/S doesn't. Well as far as I'm aware"

Went I to local Currys just now to speak to someone who could demonstrate a 75" LG OLED against a Sony and Samsung equivalent.  Unfortunately I got a smart a**e who tried to convince me Sky are already transmitting HDR! What a prat! I never got to demo - absolutely outrageous - he suggested I didn't know what I was talking about - with *****s like this how the h**l do they sell TVs?  Makes me want to go through the misselling process just for sake of it.  Anyone had any joy with Currys?

People rarely do. They are an absolutely atrocious business IMHO.  They flatly lie in every other sentence. It's deep in their DNA. Please, promise me now, whatever happens - you won't buy another TV from Curry's?

I won't even buy batteries from Curry's. It's just not worth it.

I promise!  But has anyone succeeded on getting money back on the Misselling grounds - earlier in this thread (now quite lengthy) nobody had but would be interested in anyone with recent experience

Richer Sounds and now JL have agreed refunds, just waiting for Currys to realise the dongle is not an app and then they will be forced to comply too:

That's talking about RGB Direct,  not Currys

Noo, the Chromecast is just a dumb device, it's useless without the app that's streaming to it. And no, it won't support 4k, nor does it do HDR.

All that device does is it sits on the USB OTG port and funnels the USB data lines off to an ethernet port.

That's because their both Android derivatives. Roku OS is a custom Linux base (which should mean it has the common USB driver on the kernel).

Don't suppose you (or anybody else here) has a link to the exact information/process I need to try to get a refund from Richer Sounds? I can see others claiming they've been successful there but not how they've gone about it!

Ok. not sure I totally get how that would help with a Roku SS+ as it connects by HDMI and not USB other than to power it.

Can I ask, do you have the Roku SS+ and are you using this other device and is it giving you better internet speeds than the wifi? I haven't seen anywhere else that this has been advised.

Many thanks.

The thread is for all retailers.  Just so happens RGB Direct was mentioned on the page I linked to (the last page in the thread, when I linked it)

There's some links and details on the first page, including a Which? tool to help draft a claim email.  Probably best to ask on that thread for specific advice on RS refunds, but they seem to be pretty easy to get now they've lost at the ADR.

Richer sounds are now giving refunds so just ring them explain you are unhappy about the miss-selling(as long as that did influence your decision to buy) and they have held their hands up and given refunds. Let us know on the KS Refunds thread how you get on for others.
