So, of the nigh on 400 TVs supported in BBC iplayer for the Blue Planet II HLG episodes none are from Samsung. Oh joy.

Thankyou @TastyBurger666, if you get a chance, perhaps you could ask them about the Amazon Fire TV v3 (released last November? It does 4K HDR in YouTube no problem. There is an iPlayer app for it but HDR is inexplicably not supported (no test loops visible in either Beta or non-Beta mode), and I hope this means "not yet"?

A point in Apple's favour (though of course contracts are a big market), however I wish to report that the iphone 5c which also came out in 2013 was not compatible with ios11. https://www.imore.com/what-devices-are-compatible-ios-update While ago now but First generation Ipad only received updates for around 3 years due to hardware limitations. Btw I do have a few Apple devices.
I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Ooh ta! Part of me would like to have a gander at at 1080p HD-HDR picture too.
Just tested the other rubbishy LG we have at work, and it went straight into HLG, picture looked great, although it's a paltry NITS of about 350-400, but could defo tell the difference.
Also been told we have a top of the line 10Gb network connection with 100% uptime, so chances of getting a slot for each game is very high!
EDIT: Oh, and would you look at that... there IS an HLG feed being distributed via Satellite as well as along the Internet, Quelle Surprise, BBC! Quelle Suprise!

However they did cause a truckton of problems by going from 32-bit to 64-bit on the apps, and this did make some iphones and ipads obsolete overnight. They're also about to cause another issue by depreciating OpenGL in Macbooks in faovur of their own Metal API, which is to be frank, a bit sh***y.

BBC do not have the available bandwith to broadcast via sat. there HD transponders have an overall bandwith of 45mbps and thats often split between 4 or 5 HD channels, there SD broadcasts are on transponders with a typical bandwith of 35mbps
so unless they plan on shutting down all there other channels there was zero chance of this happening, they could have maybe did a deal similiar to sky with eurosport (which is what has been done in Germany aswell) but i guess this wouldnt be possible due to being publicly owned etc...
cheers
