So, of the nigh on 400 TVs supported in BBC iplayer for the Blue Planet II HLG episodes none are from Samsung. Oh joy.

TVIn the UK I was offered an over the air update to my KS7000
last week. After researching a bit on line to check for bugs,
I made the update (to 1241). I cannot see any differences but
have not looked very hard. It was suggested that it had
speeded up navigation between apps. but I did not notice this.
I have not seen any negative effects. I am glad thet Samsung are
offering updates after that period when they did not and seemed to
be leaving us without HLG via HDMI.

TVJust a heads up, it looks like the next Sir David Attenborough nature series, Seven Worlds, One Planet, will also be part of the UHD HLG trials on the Iplayer. Starts Oct 27th.

Hi @crashcris just a pity the TV's cannot play from the onboard Iplayer app.

I know, but after all this time that topic's been covered, and even if my JS set doesn't do HLG like the KS sets do, at least the UHD still looks fabulous using a Roku SS+. I've read so much over the past couple of years about the KS and JS sets and all the more recent Samsung TVs and the general consensus seems to be that the picture quality of the JS and KS sets far outstrips the more modern ones. Not to forget to mention that the JS were the last to do 3D. I've made my peace with not having HLG, (TBH, I prefer SDR to HDR on Amazon and Netflix, so I've set my Roku SS+ not to decode the HDR).

I assume you mean a KS model? If HDR is too dark on Netflix and Amazon then you either have your setting wrong or a faulty TV.
I have a KS set for three and half years and HDR on ALL devices and steams has been stellar!

TVOn the Roku SS+, go to
Settings
Display Type
then scroll down to 4K 30Hz TV.
OK
Click OK
Ok picture looks good and you're done.
You will probably have to do this each time you want to watch through a different app as I find the Roku "helpfully" (actually really annoyingly) keeps switching itself back to the detected 4K HDR at 30 Hz option.

TVOnly just realised the PS4 Pro BBC iplayer now supports HLG. When watching on my Kseries should the picture info display HLG and should the brightness auto increase to 20? Thanks in advance

TVas yesterday there is an update for the SUHD JS8000, ver 1550.0 (MULTI LANGUAGE): All Windows2019-12-03. its almost 2gb... no idea what it does

TVI noticed that too. So far not really noticed any changes, am hoping that the very occassional and seemingly random stutter has been fixed, but will take time to ascertain.

TVHello, after you have updated your tv to support HLG. Have you managed to try it with sky q yet and see if it works with the HDR content? Thanks

TVYep. All good. Sky Q 2tb box with external power supply. HDR works nicely with Sky Nature on-demand stuff. Just waiting for Sky to add HDR to Netflix etc. But I use my Nvidia Shield for that anyway.

TVThat's great news. Can I ask using Nvidia Shield do HDR content on Netflix or amazon look better? I have Ks9500 model TV and hdr contest using apps Netflix or Amazon on TV look very dim and dark. I also tried through Roku SS+ But HDR is really bad on KS9500. There is no way to turn off HDR either.
Just wanted to know if Nvidia Shield was better than Roku SS+.
Also using Roku SS+ i don't get 5.1 sound on my Bose.650 system. I tried connecting Roku directly to Bose 650. Still I don't get 5.1 sound from Netflix or Amazon. Any advise from anyone would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Aww nice one. Cheers for the reply. I'm wanting to upgrade to the 2tb box for UHD but wasnt sure if these models worked with HLG to get HDR to work. 👍🏼
@nkelly1994 Glad Sky HDR works with the K series , was fine with my 2017 model. You will be fine if you upgrade your Box, though not operating at full capacity at the moment. For the list of compatible Boxes see here, the first 2TB Box and the standard 1TB Boxes do not support HDR https://www.sky.com/help/articles/check-which-sky-q-box
A bit on the content here https://www.whathifi.com/news/sky-q-is-finally-getting-some-hdr-content

TVRegarding dim HDR on the KS series... Are you playing an HDR source and THEN adjusting your picture settings to increase backlight to 100%? The KS series don't do it automatically. The settings are saved per picture mode.
P.s. I get Dolby Atmos on Amazon via Nvidia Shield.

Hi Andy, backlight is set to 100% in all picture mode. But find that HDR content just looks dim. 4K looks amazing on KS9500 .
i should invest in a Nvidia Sheild. BeCause Roku SS+ Does not seem to pass through 5.1 from amazon or Netflix.
thanks for your response.
