Hi All,

I have an issue with a UE50TU8000KXXU TV got it new Dec 2020 has been working fine, until the new Sky Q box turned up Friday, it wont work with my TV it says  "This screen does not support  HDCP. Try reconnecting your HDMI cable or use a different screen" so Ive tried 6 HDMI cables   1 being a certified 8K new one, all the same message, got onto Samsung support 2 hours of playing around with my TV remotely he said its broken and needs a repair man.

I'm not convinced its broken I feel its more a Firmware update needed to support HDCP 2.2 ( firmware updated to latest version and checked by Samsung)

So has anybody had similar with this TV and Sky Q?

or has anybody got a fix.

thanks for reading

Paul

Hi its me again, got an update 🙂, so I brought an HDCP converter downgrades HDCP handshake protocol from 2.2 to 1.4 its made by PureTools PT-C-HDCP, turned everything off waited 5mins plugged the converter in, powered up TV first, it sat there stating it had no signal, so I flicked on the Sky Q box and it started its boot up, PureTools PT-C-HDCP powered itself up with power from HDMI cable, things are looking good.

TV still waiting for signal, its been 3mins Sky Q has fully booted now, Samsung still not happy, neither am I so that didn't work 😕  got to be a faulty TV from new that I couldn't check when I got it 16 months ago because I didn't had any UHD input device, and now it's out of warranty  with an estimated repair bill of £200 for a new main board plus fitting.

So I'm looking at a new TV, currently looking on my Samsung tablet, wearing my Samsung Watch 4 using my Samsung mobile to connect to the Internet while I update the good people on the Samsung community.

love Samsung stuff, or I did, looking at getting an LG now.

@Paul629  Thanks for the update Paul though pity the HDCP convertor did not provide a solution, was not sure that would work mind you.  Obviously your call though a new TV might be a better  idea in the long run.

HDCP errors generally indicate a problem with the physical connection or communication between your device and TV. HDCP error can occur when you play unprotected content on Xbox One. If your HD TV displays an “HDCP Error” message, this caused by the TV and source device not communicating correctly.
