Hello. For a few weeks, we've been getting a ghost image on the TV... a bit of googling & looking here seems to suggest it's signal based, but we're getting increasingly worried the TV is on its way out!

Randomly, the previous scene will freeze in front of the picture, then fades to horizontal lines eventually, or goes again. There's no pattern with how long it stays, or for how long. It's tended to happen while watching the Euros, but tonight's irritation is watching a recording of Sewing Bee!! Have checked cables. Found a suggestion about turning off something to do with motion in settings, but that's not worked. Firmware/software is as up to date as it can get. TV is via VM, so no aerial etc to worry about.

Any other ideas? Or does it look like a new unit is in order? Thanks in advance x

Forgot to say - TV is approx 8 years old.

Hi, does this happen with other input sources such as DVD/bluray player, games console, etc. If so, then this could point to a failing motherboard.

Looks like screen burn but with how you said it goes doesn't sound like it

We don't have anything else hooked up (odd, I know!) but did notice the other day it did it with the TV menu when we restarted it to clear it (which clearly isn't signal based!)... Sounds like it might be then 😒
Thanks.

It's not stuff that's been displayed for ages - just a random picture... & yes, just fades to lines & eventually clears completely, so not like screen burn 🤔
