Previous owner entered a pin i dont know. How can I set back to default? I don't have a smart phone just talk and text.

Security is designed to ensure it cannot be bypassed.

Otherwise if a phone is stolen or lost, then the person can just reset the phone.

Unfortunately if you don't have the pin code you are stuck.

You will need to find it out to proceed.

Even if you do manage to reset it and wipe the pin, you'll need the Google and Samsung login details for the previous owner. Meaning what you are holding is a brick
