Good morning all, I hope that someone from Samsung reads this but I have been chasing a problem with eARC for roughly 12 weeks now with no resolution or case updates in sight.
I speak with Samsung support every two or three days but absolutely nothing.
I don't know why I spent so much money on the Q950ts when its basically not doing what it says.
Someone...anyone...help!
Thanks.

I have 8k Belkin cables. One of the best brands.

Hi Matt055,
Purchasing a new HDMi 2.1 cable was the first thing I did, this did not remedy my issue. I do not get Uncompressed 5.1 when using eARC and get constant audio drop outs when playing games or streaming video.
I am at a situation where my only choice is great sound or great video, can't have both at the same time. If I go through the Soundbar I get amazing sound, but only 4K60Hz, but if I go through the TV I get 4K 120Hz but not so great sound. Setting to Pass-through does help a bit for sound quality but it results in the Sound bar loosing sound and having to reset the soundbar if I load a game otherwise I get no sound.
As for using Auto instead of pass-through, well that really sucks for me, sound is not great.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the post about the cable. I have switched cables several times to no avail. I do not have the same issue with my Blu-Ray. So, I am sure it is NOT related to the cable but to the Samsung device. What is more, others in the forum managed to return their TVs and exchange them for other brands (Philips and LG). On doing so, there were no problems.
So, we continue to hope that Samsung will do something....

Pretty clearly the guy going on about the HDMi cables doesn't understand the actual issue which is that when setting the games console to output LPCM then the passthrough option on the TV is disabled.

Yeah it’s not cables - i just took delivery of complete replacement from Samsung. QN900A this time - manufactured in August. Not only does it have zero issues but the input switching seems to work better, and my sky box actually works directly with TV now which it didn’t before I had to go through the HDFury.
I can’t help but think there is a fundamental hardware issue with the models manufactured earlier - and that problem extends beyond the main boards (which I had replaced 3 times).
LPCM multi channel and DTS-X I’ll be able to get November 1st when the HDFury Vrroom is released - unless Samsung decide to support it before which I doubt.

Hi Moralneeeick, did Samsung replace the Q950TS with the Q900A?
I would also push for this based on your reply so would appreciate your feedback.
thanks

Ah sorry no this was QN800A for QN900A - they offered me a refund or model up from mine after all of the lies/hassle I went through with them. But I would still push nonetheless there are clearly issues across multiple models. The only reason I agreed and didn’t buy an LG was because I’ve seen almost no complaints about QN900A on forums. Keep pushing for a new TV - it took probably 24 hours of calls in total to get them to stop replacing my main board. Even sought legal advice from a friend under consumer law given the Tv was just over a month old.
best of luck

Mine is Q800T and the only noticeable issue is the lack of 5 1/7.1 LPCM passthrough. I was having sound drops when using Netflix and Amazon apps and earc enabled, but apparently that issue stopped happening, probably after apps updates.
Samsung voided my warranty because I did a factory reset from the service menu. Also, I have my TV since more than a year. I don't think they will offer me something.

Ah ok - you can use the new HDFury vrroom to get DTS-X and LPCM when it comes out in November - it’s another £300 but it means you can put a lead straight to your Soundbar and will even give you Dolby vision from Apple TV.
I’ve been waiting for the Vrroom as it supports the full 40gbps and VRR. It’s a device we shouldn’t need but ultimately solves all of the areas the TVs are lacking in.

Thanks. It's for the Series X. Do you know if it's able to do hdr10+, 4k120 and 8k60?
