Hi all! Is there any chance to get the codec AV1 to play youtube 8K videos on the Q900R,Q950R,Q900RB? Like new Samsung models Q950T  presented at CES 2020 will be able to play 8K videos on YT, what about us owners of 2018 model? Thanks

I sent HD Fury an e-mail in regard of the quote "World First eARC HDMI 2.1 adapter", and I got this reply:

It is still a mystery, unfortunately... We even had a Samsung representative reply that the new OCB replacements only had HDMI 2.0, but port 4 (or all ?) had a special unique HDMI 2.0 that would "accept 8K 60p"... though some claim that we did get a HDMI 2.1, but Samsung can't officially go out with that information because of licensing issues...

You misunderstood nd him, port 4 is 2.1 capable because meets the specifics necessary, so 4K at 120 and 8K at 60 only port 4 and is claimed on Samsung official website

Can you please provice a link to that specific claim on the Samsung official website ? I really want to get to the bottom of it as there are so many conflicting claims ! If there is an official statement on the Samsung website, then it is really great news !

I am not getting what was "the only thing that was clear" in the link to the Samsung product page you have linked. It is a product page that has a lot of information, so you need to point out exactly where this information about the HDMI 2.1 has been fixed and is specifically addressed. This has been going on for a long time, if you look at the "8K Q900R. One connect box swapping HDMI 2.1" tread in here.

Here is another recent statement when addressing this through Samsung support (by user " Airmen", dated 5th. June 2020):

Another thing: the other link (Flatpanelshd.com) you have posted is making reference to the 2019 TVs, while the link to the Samsung site is the 2018. Now you are even conflicting yourself... Plus if all this mess has finally been sorted out then why can't Samsung support and official moderators on this official Samsung forum make a clear statement if Samsung has finally gotten the HDMI 2.1 licensing sorted out ? This has been a long gong issue for two years now.

Is not even a issue, we all swapped ocb, and 2020 models have AV1 and hdmi 2.1,  i have spoke with Samsung support asking for hdmi 2.1 and they send me the new OCB eithout saying is hdmi 2.0
