Samsung UE40MU6120

For months now Iplayer will not load any content.  The app loads and show available content but selecting anything returns a message saying content will not load and listing error 02050.

Have tried updates and resets but nothing seems to solve this.

Any ideas very welcome...

Hey @felixgolightly

Is your TV running on software version 1310? You can check this by heading into Settings > Support > Contact Samsung. If not, please update it via a USB to see if this helps! You'll be able to locate these steps in the following link:

Hi @puzzlekeeper

If BBC iPlayer is the only app you're experiencing issues with, it might be an issue with the app rather than the TV. Have you tried getting in touch with BBC customer support to see if they're able to shed any light on the matter?

Unsurprisingly BBC iplayer don’t know the answer and suggest the problem lies with the TV. I’m on software vers 1400. It would appear to be the TV rather than iplayer.

It sounds like you're having trouble with the BBC iPlayer app on your Sky Q box, specifically with loading the next episode in a series and encountering the 'Something's Gone Wrong Error 02050'. Firmware updates for Sky Q boxes are indeed handled automatically, so manual updates aren’t typically necessary.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Restart your Sky Q box: Power it off, wait a few minutes, and then turn it back on.
  2. Check your internet connection: Ensure your Sky Q box is connected to a stable network.
  3. Reinstall the BBC iPlayer app: Uninstall the app from your Sky Q box and then reinstall it.
  4. Check for any ongoing service issues: Visit the BBC iPlayer and Sky Q service status pages to see if there are any reported outages.

For more detailed troubleshooting steps and solutions, check out this guide: Fix BBC iPlayer Error Code 02050 Quickly.

Got this error on both my Samsung TV and NVidia Shield (but not on my Apple TV)

Accidentally found a solution that works for me every time: Open the BBC iPlayer app, and login/select user, then wait at least 2 minutes before selecting a program.

That is it.

As I say, this has worked for me every time. (It must be some kind of caching error)
