I know I can connect an HDMI cable but are there any other options to mirror my PC screen onto my NU8000 that don't involve running cables?

Both are on the same LAN and in Devices on the PC, I see [TV] Samsung 8 Series (65)

The TV doesn't show up as a device in displays

thanks in advance

Hi @Zacepi  Are you using smart View https://www.samsung.com/uk/apps/smartview/

and is your PC by any chance running Windows 10 (on the basis of searches seems to have been more Smart view issues reported with that system though by no means exclusively)   Anyway do both devices have the latest updates, know they are both connected to the same wireless network as per the guidance.  Latest update for your model is 1260.8 which became available last month.   https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/UE65NU8000TXXU/

Particurlary if you are using windows 10 this advice may be useful :

  1. Type Control Panel on the search bar and press Enter.
  2. Select Security and Maintenance > Windows Firewall.
  3. Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall on the left corner of the window.
  4. Select Change settings > Allow another app...
  5. In the Add an app window, browse for the app you want to allow network access to.
  6. Click the Network types button to specify whether you want to allow the app access on public or private networks.
  7. Click Add when you’re done.

Other Suggestions I could make would include resetting the network and emptying cache of Tv by pressing and holding in  power button for 30 seconds.

You may wish to look at this thread which may give other ideas

An alternative is chromecast where you can cast a window or your entire PC but is maybe not the best option https://www.lifewire.com/use-chromecast-to-show-windows-desktop-4129536

If you are just interested in  viewing /playing audio/media  files on the Tv  then Plex works well, you need to download Plex server on PC and get the app on the TV https://www.plex.tv/en-gb/your-media/#

James thanks for the reply.

Can I asked what may be a stupid question - the manuals (and you) all state about being on the same wireless network. The TV and my PC are on the same WIRED network not wifi. This isn't a special function that relies somehow on wifi is it?

Hi @rob  oh right, from what I have been able to determine  Windows will not try to discover devices unless there is  a wireless connection (seems to be some limitation)-this is according to Microsoft.
