Hello, I have just bought a 43’’ version of this TV for our bedroom and the picture quality overall is generally beautiful after playing around with some settings. What I cannot seem to improve though is any content viewed in HDR/HDR10/HDR10+ for example any 4K content on Disney+ and HDR10+ in Prime is very dark. No matter what I do, it doesn’t increase the picture unless I actually amend the Gamma shadow detail… but all that does it make it look washed out. Is the HDR content so dark because it’s a cheaper model? Thanks, Carl.

Hi @Carlsungsam87  The cost certainly will be a factor and this more "budget friendly model" will not be the best for HDR and the brightness on this model is not  particularly impressive.  From reviews It struggles to produce  deep black tones and the whites do not pop out.  https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/samsung-ue43au7100 If just purchased assuming you have the latest firmware, though was updated in December.  https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/UE43AU7100KXXU/

Whilst contrast is not the best have you tried  turning up the contrast to high, seems adjusting the Gamma and other  settings does not really provide a solution.   could also have a look at this thread concerning another model but seems similar issues.https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/tv/dark-scenes-so-dark-they-re-unwatchable-in-hdr-mode-on/td-p/1...

Hi James,

Thank you for your contribution. It’s totally fine, I didn’t pay through the nose for it and it’s only a bedroom TV so HDR content will rarely be used to be honest. I have a Samsung RU8000 model from 2019 as my better Samsung, which still has a slightly dark HDR content but it’s manageable when I tweak a few settings. The AU7100 is just ridiculously dark though, almost unwatchable. I guess you get what you pay for! Thanks.

@Carlsungsam87  No problem,  As long as not relying on this model  for HDR and yes there is a premium for better quality.
