Apps storage space issue

TV: UE55 NU7500

I'm not sure whether this is a general Samsung issue or just to do with my TV, but the amount of space allocated to the Smart Hub apps seems to be seriously lacking.

As this is a new TV I thought I'd explore some of the available apps, but when I went into the Apps area I got a message saying that there was insufficient space to update apps. This was before I had downloaded anything, so it would purely apply to the pre-installed apps.

I checked settings and the used space was 751MB with 64MB available, i.e. 7%. This seems absurd as these apps can't be deleted and are built into the system. The available space doesn't even allow them to be updated. I then tried resetting Smart Hub. This has helped to an extent as the available space is now 13%. However, it's still far too low and whenever I try and download a new app I get a warning about available space.

I can't believe that the pre-installed apps are taking around 700MB of space, and it seems crazy that Samsung would design the system this way. Presumably I will have to install an SD card to provide more space for the apps?

Any tips welcome as this is my first Samsung TV.

Hello,

well, surprise... after months with the only option being offered was 1292.3 , now even my nu7192 has a 1300 being offered.

I guess they didn't pull the plug like i assumed.

I'll wait for the OTA, I think it causes less troubles than a full flash from usb

Correct on the update. But it seems it's aimed aat qled tellies. Not standard ones. They all have had an issue with the micro dimming in gaming mode.

Guess what? That wasn't fixed

I have a 55" nu7400 with the same issue. Richer sounds want to replace the board. From my understanding this won't resolve the issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

Let them replace the board, as you have to give them a chance to resolve it, but as we all know they just replace with the same board.

If they replace the board at home, then make sure the engineer sees the amount of memory left once all the apps have downloaded, you'll see it's back down to 3-5% left.

I will then get hold of RS and explain that the issue has not been resolved.  They may ask to add a external hard drive, but this does not resolve the updating the stock apps.  This method is not a fix, no matter what they say.

If you need further advise, take some time and read through the posts, you will find them very useful.
