Apps storage space issue

TV: UE55 NU7500

I'm not sure whether this is a general Samsung issue or just to do with my TV, but the amount of space allocated to the Smart Hub apps seems to be seriously lacking.

As this is a new TV I thought I'd explore some of the available apps, but when I went into the Apps area I got a message saying that there was insufficient space to update apps. This was before I had downloaded anything, so it would purely apply to the pre-installed apps.

I checked settings and the used space was 751MB with 64MB available, i.e. 7%. This seems absurd as these apps can't be deleted and are built into the system. The available space doesn't even allow them to be updated. I then tried resetting Smart Hub. This has helped to an extent as the available space is now 13%. However, it's still far too low and whenever I try and download a new app I get a warning about available space.

I can't believe that the pre-installed apps are taking around 700MB of space, and it seems crazy that Samsung would design the system this way. Presumably I will have to install an SD card to provide more space for the apps?

Any tips welcome as this is my first Samsung TV.

I use to deal with airheads like you and others while working tech support for Cisco,  "Samsung", Dell and FIOs. Also reasons why many like I won't ever recommend or work those jobs again. You just have all the answer then why bother with forms or support mr know it all? All these smart ass comments because I posted in this form a few times? Such intellect people you are. And for the genuine that's says this is being resolved..... it's been two years later that should tell you something. Like I said it's not a flaw in the storage space. it's about cost. The real flaw is in the the instructions. The code for the storage was poorly written. But what do I know I'm just a IT specialist of 14years!!! You could have saved your comments and either try what I said to try or don't! Not basing experience based on how many times I commented. I resolved my issue a while ago I've since resolved many other with the same issue. Samsung tech support any many others is going to tell you whatever it takes to get you off the phone. Go buy another Samsung TV and see how much the storage has changed.... if what I posted works for husky and share. Simple!

Riiighhht just try my method and thank me later *****!!! Because you've said enough to show you know nothing other then browsing the internet waiting for people with experience like myself to help you many of you should consider yourself lucky that experts with experience take their time to help you guys out. You should learn what forms are for and how it really works. This the first time I've ever been attacked for offering a solution to your two year problem. The laugh out loud part is this the less technical form I've even commented on. Smdh nevertheless I do it for the overall there will always be *****s 🤷🏾‍♂️ Goodbye!

Try this, restore your TV to factory default removing any installed apps or settings after doing so check for an update from Samsung. After checking for firmware update clear the cache by holding the power button while TV is on. Hold the power button until tv turns off and on again. If done right you should see Samsung logo. please add a Fat32 formatted USB storage to the USB port that reads USB HDD before installing any other app. After installing USB, install any app of your choice you should then get the option to install on USB. Hope this helps!

Neau, you mean well. That's granted.
We are here for the other 99% of people.
Even the engineers are sick of this model

The fact is, Samsung sold a smart TV that has 800mb of storage. 730 of which is taken up by tizen OS. Almost all the rest is taken up by forced apps that Samsung gets paid for.
The fact that you got a yourself a workaround (even though Samsung engineers couldn't do it) needs applauding and I take my hat off to you.

But you would never buy an S20 to find that you have to bastardise it to get it to "work", by not having enough storage.

You wouldn't buy a car with a 1 litre petrol tank, that you have to plug in a bigger tank afterwards

I was happy with the picture, but on recent findings it is an HDR 8+2. Not a full HDR 10+.
When I got my refund I went and bought a Philips 8 series. Less money; HDR 10+; Dolby Vision; android 9.0; 3gb ram and 16gb of storage. The P5 engine has upscaling that Samsung can only dream of

Again Neau, well done. But if I wanted to faff around with a TV, I would have bought one for a LOT less money.

Unfortunately . No scrape that... fortunately my set has gone and refund by Section 75 with my Credit Card as retailer and Samsung refused to  even return my calls when they had my set .It only had one USB on it and as far as i remember no mention of HDD on the socket.

Could be a John Lewis expert to stop me getting refunds for us lot.
The fact is, the TV is sh1t and isn't worth £500 let alone £800
Even the new Samsung TU TVs have only 2, yes 2, hdmi sockets.
Do you sell them that set and tell them they have to buy a hdmi switch? Or do you tell them that they will have to keep switching leads because "It's still a TV", as many retailers tell us

I will reiterate to consumers that bought this set from John Lewis. Get in touch with me, as so many are by private message, and I will give you everything you need to get a refund

Ehm,

to be fair, my 7192 ( that's more entry level compared to the 74xx 75xx models ) has 3 hdmi in.

Are you saying that the current entry level models have less in/outs ?

I'm afraid our new forum expert is *still* missing the point.

The issue is not with third party apps, it's with the built-in apps that can't be deleted or moved to a USB drive, and also the operating system itself. Together they are crammed into 800MB of default storage, and after a few months (without adding any new apps) they won't be able to update any more. Simple as that.

TV has very few storage and this is a fact.

The ways are 2: try to ged refunded or use it at its best.

Paying respect to who has fight and got a refund, I am using my tv with autoupgrade enabled and a 12% of space left and this situation is the same by months. I dont't think to keep this tv (at least as main smart tv) for many years, I have yet said that smarttv are for me like smartphones, their lifes are quite short and are shorter if they are, like my NU7170, quite an entry level product).

So it's not true that tv is "perfect" but can be used (at least mine, in my nation (I think apps are not the same in all nations), also because I don't need to install more than those 2 or 3 apps by myself (that can be put in external usbkey).
