Apps storage space issue

TV: UE55 NU7500

I'm not sure whether this is a general Samsung issue or just to do with my TV, but the amount of space allocated to the Smart Hub apps seems to be seriously lacking.

As this is a new TV I thought I'd explore some of the available apps, but when I went into the Apps area I got a message saying that there was insufficient space to update apps. This was before I had downloaded anything, so it would purely apply to the pre-installed apps.

I checked settings and the used space was 751MB with 64MB available, i.e. 7%. This seems absurd as these apps can't be deleted and are built into the system. The available space doesn't even allow them to be updated. I then tried resetting Smart Hub. This has helped to an extent as the available space is now 13%. However, it's still far too low and whenever I try and download a new app I get a warning about available space.

I can't believe that the pre-installed apps are taking around 700MB of space, and it seems crazy that Samsung would design the system this way. Presumably I will have to install an SD card to provide more space for the apps?

Any tips welcome as this is my first Samsung TV.

Interesting! what model do you have?

My NU7500 mother board was replaced but didn't make any difference. All pre-installed apps and have 1 percent left.

If you actually have the NU series, then there is no way to have that as storage left.

Photo attached.

I had my motherboard replaced on my 7400 only 6 weeks ago, it was then on 5% free upon the engineer installing it. however, that has now dropped down to 1% (11mb).

A new anomaly has started happening... the Smart hub has been resetting itself. Resetting all freesat channels and removing apps.

I've now spoken to tech support and expalined the issie with the new motherboard, I also explained that the UK tech support engineers told me thats normal and to use a USB, so they've now asked me to send them photos of the memory and error messages, even though my TV is now out of warranty. ...So all is not lost, they still want to investigate this.

i'll keep you all updated.

I also have a Q60R with no storage issue and have attached a photo of its storage. Only if yours was replaced with a different mother board all together. Strange how it has the same storage with the Q60

Uhm, this opens a possible scenario

What if his mb was replaced with a Q60 and they simply disabled the extra features + changed the tag using the service menu ?

How is the backside of a Q60 ? ( to see where the ports are and such )

Hi all, great news, tier 2 help has changed the motherboard and updated the TV and I have just finished setting up the TV, all working as it was six weeks ago. See attached photo free space back again :-0

@TonyBCCan you confirm that your TV is the 2018 7 series, or is this a Q60? I think reading back there is a misunderstanding or belief that somehow Samsung have replaced the board and you now have 2Gb+ free on the 7 series.

I suspect the poster has been confusing the issue, as he said "all working as it was six weeks ago". However, the NU7 series has never had anywhere near 2.29GB of free space, otherwise we wouldn't have an issue. I look forward to an urgent clarification.

Well well well well

judging by the pics posted, i think that a NU7x00 and a Q60 motherboard can be exchanged with each other without the need for structural alterations.

I've really the feeling that the reported "fix" has been done with a Q60 board with the internal tag changed to NU7xxx , some features disabled and the right panel programmed as output

Hi,

Sorry it is late here just got your message. Yes its a Q60 65" 2019 not sure if there is a misunderstanding. My Q60 was the first one posted on this site and the techos that fixed mine told me that they had not heard of my problem which started in the second week that I had the TV, hope that helps.

Oh dear! This thread is all about the storage issue affecting the 2018 NU7 series, not the Q range, as they don't have a storage issue.

A glimmer of hope dashed.
