Have they started shipping the one connect boxes over yet from 2.0 to HDMI 2.1 ?

Cant get anything from the Indian call centre staff not one of them understands what I am asking them.

Absolutley useless for a new customer asking any questions as they do not know the products.

He kept saying on phone 60 frame per minute, then he said running in 60p -- shows you how ill informed they or on products, rang 5 different times and not one can answer my question.

does anyone who owns one of the Q900R 8Ktvs could give me an insight into them, has there been any problems, good and bad points?

be as honest as you can.

Also has anyone had the chance to see a 4k tv and an 8tv side by side and if so is the comparison noticable.?

Hi, Tom. I don't think that's quite accurate. From what I've read, port 4 is technically out of spec for HDMI 2.1: it can handle 40gbps but not the full 48gbps of the spec. However, I believe  4k120 HDR 4:4:4 does fit in 40gbps (as does 8k60 HDR 4:2:0). I'm not sure what the full 48gbps might be needed for... maybe 8k60 HDR 4:4:4.

This is what I've read but I have not verified it.

EDIT: My comment applies to the Q900R. I don't know about the Q90R or Q85R.

EDIT2: After some Googling I believe I am mistaken somewhere; 4k120 HDR 4:2:2 fits in 40gpbs but not 4:4:4. But the manual for the Q900RB definitely says that it can do 4k120Hz HDR (10-bit) 4:4:4 so maybe what I read about port 4 being limited to 40gbps is incorrect.

Either way is fine with me. If you think about it there's pretty much nothing that you'd use 4k120Hz for where 4:2:2 isn't perfectly fine.

Thanks for your input. There has been at least two individuals in these forums that have managed to play, using monster pc:s equipped with nvidia 3090 cards, in 4k@120hz 4:4:4 and 8k@60hz 4:2:0 on both US version QN75Q900RBFXZA and European version QE75Q950RBTXXC. No problems what so ever. So, the mystery of all times remains unsolved so far. Please, continue testing and report. I want to be able to know what to expect and what to say to Samsung in the end. Thanks for your effort!

Attached are two screenshots of a presentation on HDMI 2,1 features and data rates that are often referred to by experts in such discussions. For more details and the food presentation see the following link: https://hdmiforum.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/HDMI-Forum-2.1-November-Release-Presentation-EN.pdf

Thanks! Seen this sometime before, but it disappeared. Great that you posted it here. I will post it in the QLED owners group with props to you. Still, no mention of the mysterious "2.0b". But since this publication is written in 2017 there might be an update somewhere? Great info though for all people wandering around in the dark. 😊

Still, one big question remains. Does this also apply to the 2019 Q950R and the equivalent US version Q900RB which came with the "2.1-port" from start? Is this port fully compatible and thereby certified as 2.1-compatible as was stated already in the beginning of this year. Which would mean for example capable of transfer rates up to 48GB/s?

How hard can that be to get a straight answer from Samsung? 🙄🤔🤯

This is the reply I got from Samsung re HDMI 2.1 (I have the 2019 Q900RB model):

Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics Australia.

Yes, selected 2019-2020 TV model supports HDMI 2.1 via HDMI 4 port. However, the upcoming eARC feature support for your TV model QA65Q900RBW has not been confirmed and we do not have an update yet.

We also suggest updating your TV's software which provides update for the HDMI 2.1 support. Here is how:

1. Configure the TV's network settings and make sure it has a stable internet connection.
2. Access "Support" from the Settings Menu and choose "Software Update".
3. Select "Update Now".

here is a link to a video I found in another chat that gives some background on HDMI 2.1 and eARC and related unsolved issues that exist obviously in the processing chain between console, AVR and the TV. This is perhaps also a reason why Samsung struggles with this subject. Of course their customers will complain if they have issues with the games that are shown on the Samsung TV.

adding to my previous post: So it probably  doesn’t makes sense if Samsung  comes out now with a new OCB that doesn’t work properly with the HDMI 2.1 interfaces of the new AVRs.

I am not so sure what this is about, but someone posted this screen capture from a private chat I think, which I think was originally asked about an eARC update to the Q90R TV, in which the response was about the Q900RA models getting the update maybe ?
