65KS9002 keeps buffering when playing a video from network

Samsung TV 65KS9002 has some buffering problems playing videos from network storage. It takes 50 seconds to play 5 seconds from the movie.
The TV is connected to a 2.4GHz wifi to an Asus RT-AC887 that has a WD 2TB HDD formatted as ext4.
Router is 4m(13ft) away.

Sometimes playing the first video works, but when trying a 2nd or 3rd, it gets worse, more and more buffering.
Playing video from USB attached to TV works ok.

On an older Samsung TV 55H8000, playback works smooth, no buffering. The 8000 series is farther away from the router, ~7m(22ft) away, separated by 3 walls.

See video here: https://youtu.be/-OJY6Kdt6uQ

Anybody has any tips on how to fix this problem and make th 9000 series play smooth?

Hi @coscurt. What file type are the videos and can you tell me if the footage is 4K? Have you tried connecting using an ethernet cable?

the video is an mp4 file, at 720p resolution.

the same happens with other types of video files.

I dont have an ethernet cable long enough to test it, ill need a few days to purchase one.

But you bring up a good point. I checked router's wifi connection speeds.

Assus router says the 9000 is connected at 14Mbps, while the 8000 is connected at 144Mbps.

So maybe its an issue with the wifi antenna on the 9000.

If it was any  resolution higher that 1080p, I would have guessed the speed of the router could be the issue. However, as the videos are 720p, this shouldn't pose too much of a problem (especially at 14Mbps). Do you experience any other buffering issues when using an app such as YouTube or Netflix?

It happens on youtube too.

Youtube has a "nerds view" where it shows some stats, as connection speed and buffer.

The buffer is most of the times ~70 seconds and connect speeds at 40000kbps.

Sometimes, the connectin speed goes down to 100kbps thats when the buffer runs out and it buffers to reload.

I managed to capture it on camera: https://youtu.be/qUVulYqme9U

It seems to be a problem with the wifi signal the 9000 TV has.

Its closest to the router, so it shuld have got better speeds.

I had a Samsung technician drop by.

He said there are no errors on the device so it's not a problem with the WiFi module on 65KS9002.

He did perform a factory reset of the 65KS9002, but the problem persists.
