I bought a Q80T a couple of days ago and have noticed a really annoying issue when using the tv with the combination of HDR and game mode.
I'm fairly certain this is a software bug in the TV since I can reproduce this issue with 100% accuracy, and it happens on the dot at the same moment every time. It's basically on a timer.
Basically when the game is displaying a HDR signal and game mode is enabled, exactly after 6 minutes the brightness of the TV suddenly drops by around 20 (50 -> 30). The value of brightness setting doesn't actually change however. Messing with the brightness setting does not restore the brightness to it's original state, but changing the local dimming setting from standard to low and then back to standard does. Switching game mode off and then back on also fixes the issue, but then it happens again EXACTLY after 6 minutes (I've timed this with a stopwatch).
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or can someone maybe test this on their TV to see if you can reproduce it?
Exact repro steps on how I can reproduce this 100% of the time on the PS4 Pro:
Some other notes: The PS4 has a screensaver that basically dims the screen if it is idle for a while. This is not the cause of this, this happens even when the console is in active use and the brightness can be restored temporarily by changing the local dimming setting like described above. I have not managed to reproduce this issue with game mode off, so it seems to be related to game mode.
Software version: 1304

I have the same Bug with my new Samsung Q82T 65". Wheter in gamer mode, on amazon or Netflix. After 6 Minutes the image will be darker.

Its normal to have brightness and contrast at max. when using HDR, this way, TV can use all its range of colors. If you reduce brightness and contrast in HDR modes you are limiting the tvs capabilities.

This is very good information. Good point. Thank you. So, the only issues I have are game mode looking absolutely terrible, and the auto-dimming.

I have the same issue. 6 minutes and bright down, but not only en Game Mode, playing with Film Mode top.

Besides the dimming bug, does anyone here have the purple ghosting bug? I don't have the dimming bug, I have ghosting issues. Today playing The Last of Us 2 I saw purple ghosting with GMP ON, if I turn of GMP OFF the purple ghosting disappears but I have terrible judder.
Thank you guys!

I get some purple ghosting with GMP OFF. Miles Morales, grey sky, if I pan left and right I get purple ghosting. I don’t notice it in general play but it is there.

Yes, it's not much but it's there.
On my Q80T it's very distracting can't play with GMP ON.. Can't play either with GMP OFF, now what? Game mode sucks really bad, but outside game mode I can notice the response time increases a lot...

I was testing, and i have the bright down when i am playing with Game Mode OFF. When I play with Game Mode ON, the brightness its ok after 6 minutes...what is the problem?
(I don't like play in Game Mode because the black pattern is very bad and i have clouding, but with Game Mode OFF the blacks are perfect. Now i have the problem of bright down...lol). A fix please.
Edit: I was try yo change 120 Hz to 60 Hz in Series X and looks better.
