I bought a Q80T a couple of days ago and have noticed a really annoying issue when using the tv with the combination of HDR and game mode.
I'm fairly certain this is a software bug in the TV since I can reproduce this issue with 100% accuracy, and it happens on the dot at the same moment every time. It's basically on a timer.
Basically when the game is displaying a HDR signal and game mode is enabled, exactly after 6 minutes the brightness of the TV suddenly drops by around 20 (50 -> 30). The value of brightness setting doesn't actually change however. Messing with the brightness setting does not restore the brightness to it's original state, but changing the local dimming setting from standard to low and then back to standard does. Switching game mode off and then back on also fixes the issue, but then it happens again EXACTLY after 6 minutes (I've timed this with a stopwatch).
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or can someone maybe test this on their TV to see if you can reproduce it?
Exact repro steps on how I can reproduce this 100% of the time on the PS4 Pro:
Some other notes: The PS4 has a screensaver that basically dims the screen if it is idle for a while. This is not the cause of this, this happens even when the console is in active use and the brightness can be restored temporarily by changing the local dimming setting like described above. I have not managed to reproduce this issue with game mode off, so it seems to be related to game mode.
Software version: 1304

This is bull****, this bug shouldnt be happening on a Q90T, which goes for over 2 grand, might just have to return and get an LG if this isnt fixed soon.

Hmmm, I have a 75” Q95T coming soon. Not sure I should bother unboxing it?? This and lack of proper array dimming in game mode sound terrible. I’m expecting an upgrade on my 75” Sony 900E, not annoying limitation degrading the picture quality.
What to do?

You can game in 1440p/4k 120hz Movie Mode, input lag is less than 4k60hz GameMode,
I do this on my Q800T, you get superior picture quality and low input lag.

Dimming bug in game mode can be solved.
Set game motion plus on and put IT on 0 and 0
There is no dimming anymore with local dimming in high. Bear in mind ms Will be a little bit slower of tv but you do not notice this. Best way for now. And Lets wait for next update. Then hopefully motion plus can be off again.

Dimming in Netflix etc. This is only by build in app. When you run Netflix from Xbox one s for example problem is not there and you can enjoy all HDR on filmmaker mode. IT is fantastic.

Using Apple TV+ app with HDR on movie mode and brightness abruptly drops. Restarting the content works but annoying. Q95t 75” latest firmware.

The moderators are ignoring us, they know the problem. The mine also has this problem and I've tried everything to solve it. I also called samsung numerous times, I already sent messages to the moderators they didn't even answer me. Sometimes I think it would be better to sue Samsung. This is a giant lack of respect for us. And activating GMP does not solve it.
We will send messages to famous youtubers, HDTVTest, RTings, Tha_VillaMan, Stop the FOMO, etc ... let's see if any of them decide to support us and make this bug famous and force samsung to fix it.
