I bought a Q80T a couple of days ago and have noticed a really annoying issue when using the tv with the combination of HDR and game mode.
I'm fairly certain this is a software bug in the TV since I can reproduce this issue with 100% accuracy, and it happens on the dot at the same moment every time. It's basically on a timer.
Basically when the game is displaying a HDR signal and game mode is enabled, exactly after 6 minutes the brightness of the TV suddenly drops by around 20 (50 -> 30). The value of brightness setting doesn't actually change however. Messing with the brightness setting does not restore the brightness to it's original state, but changing the local dimming setting from standard to low and then back to standard does. Switching game mode off and then back on also fixes the issue, but then it happens again EXACTLY after 6 minutes (I've timed this with a stopwatch).
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or can someone maybe test this on their TV to see if you can reproduce it?
Exact repro steps on how I can reproduce this 100% of the time on the PS4 Pro:
Some other notes: The PS4 has a screensaver that basically dims the screen if it is idle for a while. This is not the cause of this, this happens even when the console is in active use and the brightness can be restored temporarily by changing the local dimming setting like described above. I have not managed to reproduce this issue with game mode off, so it seems to be related to game mode.

Thank you! Nice to know there is a second person on the case, I find it insane how hard and difficult it is to get a hold of the engineers, like surely both Samsung and customers would benefit with a direct means to contact engineers about issues with their TV's, can't wait for my Q95T 55" to be actually usable in some games, games like Far Cry 5 are a flickering mess like even some reload animations trigger random dimming across the whole screen.

Glad you guys are getting it fixed. My 77” LG CX arrived yesterday and the Q90T was taken away. Looks like Samsung still is just as incompetent as ever when it comes to software still. I hope you guys get this resolved. I have zero patience for stuff like this.

The issue is certainly still there with version 1304, sadly. So it doesn't fix this main issue with game mode.

Quick question. How are y’all on 1034? I’ve went to manually check for updated software multiple times and it’s saying mine is up to date with 1031.

It popped up on my screen that an update was available. Are you in the Uk? I am. Not sure if that makes any difference...

EDIT: I’m not even seeing it on their website. Just update 1301.5 which I’m assuming is the firmware version I have currently.

The Q80 is on 1304 and the Q90 on 1301.5. At least in my region (North America).

North America here as well. On Samsung’s website I’m showing both models on 1301.5 firmware. Strange.

How about your experience from flagship qled to oled? Did you like it or still have thought like qled could be better because of brigthness? Pls share your experience briefly
