Using SD card to provide more memory

I have a Galaxy Tab A6 with 8G of memory, it also has a microSD 64G card also fitted. Is it possible to used some of the SD cards facility to extend the onboard memory? If so, how do I go about it please?

There won't be an option on the tablet to merge the storage space on your SD card with the device storage, @LeithR.
