TAB A8 - two different values for storage size

My Tab A8 has a 1Tb SD card.

If I look at the size on Files it shows 0.93Tb, 67.7 Gb used.

But under Settings, Battery and Device care it shows the storage as only 64 Gb and 27.3 Gb used.

I have backed up the SD card to the computer and that shows 62.3Gb - ie what is shown under Files is correct if one allows for hidden files etc.

As far as I can work out, this has happened since the latest update. There is no option under Battery and device  care to reformat the SD card in the Settings as they are at present - despite what it says on the Samsung site.

What can I do? I have already had Calibre telling me it cannot install books on the tablet as "the card is full", and I cannot copy and past files across.

My main use for the tablet is to backup photographs when I am away from home and I will not have enough space if this cannot be solved not to mention  the  waste of money on the expensive 1Tb card

Update

Instead of trying to use the computer to copy files to the 1Tb SD card, I copied the ifles to a USB stick and then used "Filels" on the Tab A8 to take them from the USB card to the internal 1Tb card. No probelms, no message that theere was not enough space - and when I checked the filies I had copied they were actually on the SD card.

Have Samsung intentionally made it so that you cannot use a SD card to copy from a computer (or perhaps download a game from Play store) but can "bring it in" from a USB card? Files is still saying the SD card is 0.93 Tb and Settings is still saying only 64 GB
