Tab A 10.1 Pattern added by update

Update notification appeared. After update tablet suddenly requires a pattern to unlock. A pattern was never set up or used on this device. It won't allow shutdown or restart for a hard reset, and won't allow me to access any sort of 'forgot my pattern' option. It just keeps popping up a 30 second timer every time a 'wrong' pattern is entered.

Is this a known issue & what's the fix?

We developed the same problem after the update today. After much trial and error we discovered the passcode to be 4 points. 1,2,3,6.
