Can I use Smart Switch to transfer settings etc from a Samsung mobile (A3) to a Samsung tablet (S2) or does it only work between Galaxy mobiles? Thanks.

You can indeed! The easiest way would be to transfer your information via PC. Find the desktop version here.

Excellent thanks!
I just tried to download smart switch for mac, to my imac, following this response, and I get the message that disk image could not be opened because disk image is not recognised.
Is a direct connection from phone to tablet also possible, via wi fi or USB?

Cheers Adam, yes, here is the error message.
(I ask about the tablet because all the instructions I've seen refer to transfers to Galaxy mobiles so just checking).

Thanks Chris, download works now.
But does Smart Switch do anything more than downloading data from the phone's google or samsung backups do. I have transferred over settings etc from the phone backup but can't see what more Smart Swwith transfers over than that.
Also Smart Switch on the tablet only offers transfers from the phone not from the Smart Switch backup I made on my PC. It offers no PC option. And the tablet did not come with a USB connector that I am told I need to use to connect to the phone.

Hi @lukemb64.
There's more info on Smart Switch here. If you want more info on what Smart Switch is transfering over in your specific case, then follow the steps in the 'Android to Android via PC or Mac' > 'Select a different backup'. You'll get to a window like this:
Top left dropdown menu selects the specific device backed up; top right dropdown allows selection of available backups under that.
