Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S won't charge when switched on

I've been having some issues trying to charge my tablet while the tablet is switched on. Everytime I plug a cable in, it says its connected but the power keeps going down rather than up.

Do I need a proprietary charger to charge this tablet and if so, which one do you use?

I'm in the UK so will require a 3 pin plug.

Do I need a certain ampere or wattage?

Think I've found the fix by using the charger from my Nintendo Switch as it is charging at a higher amp (2.6A). Every other charger I've used doesn't charge or only charges when the tablet is completely switched off/shut down
