Hve you tried clearing data in Settings > Apps > Maps > Storage > Clear data?
If that does not help, you could uninstall the updates and then reinstall (update Google Maps) via Google Play Store. To uninstall updates, go to Settings > Apps > Maps > click on the 3 dots in the top right corner > Uninstall updates.
