I have a Galaxy Tab S8 which I'm trying to update to the latest version of Android/One UI, which according to documentation is Android 14. However when I check for updates in the Settings screen, it says my device is already up to date. Can anybody give advice on resolving this issue and updating to the latest version of the software please?

Hi, and welcome to the UK community

Where are you based? Is it a UK model purchased in the UK? Direct from Samsung or a 3rd party seller?

Hi there, thanks for your reply. I bought it through eBay from a UK-based store, and I'm using the tablet in the UK as well. As to how to tell if it's a UK model I'm unsure, it has the model number SM-X700 if that helps.

@satinsable: To double check your current Android version, please head to Settings > About tablet > Software information > Android version.

If you are not on Android 14, then it should be possible to update your device by connecting to Wi-Fi, then heading to Settings > Software update. You can also try Smart Switch on a PC or Mac to see if you're able to update the device in this manner. To begin with, please follow the link below, and click on 'How Do I Get Smart Switch On My PC or Mac' to download the relevant version

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-backup-my-smartphone-to-my-pc-or-mac/

Once installed, open Smart Switch, connect your Tab S8 using the USB cable that came packaged with the device, and look for an update prompt on the landing page, next to your device details.

Thanks. Head to Settings>About tablet>Software information. Scroll down to Service provider software version and take a screenshot of that. Post it here.

Hi there, thanks for your reply. My android version is 12 and one UI version is 4.1, when I follow the guide to update the device via WiFi I am told that it's already up to date.

Thanks. Could you do the same for the build number too.

Have you received any security updates (see screenshot). Can you post screenshot of that too please.

@satinsable: Do you have access to a home computer that you can use to attempt an update via Smart Switch?

This is what I have for each, note the security patch level from 3 years ago in particular:20240809_190702_1000014210_1723226857.jpg20240809_190716_1000014211_1723226848.jpg
