Galaxy Tab S8 Software Update Fails

Hi,
I have just received a brand new Galaxy Tab S8. It had Android 12 and quite an old software version. When performing a software update from the tablet it kept on saying that the software was up to date. The only way to update was to connect the tablet to a PC and perform the update via the PC. After doing the first update, about 8 GB, I did a reboot and attempted to update from the tablet. It again said the software was up to date which it wasn't. I did another update via the PC and it is now running the latest release.

Is updating via the tablet broken, or is there something preventing it from working?
I've not had this issue on my previous tablet or phones.

I've done a factory reset and although I know there are currently no new updates now, I'm sure it will fail again.

I am based in UK.

Thanks Ben.

Where did you purchase the tab? What is the precise model number?

Hi, @BenBrazil. It's entirely possible that this was a one-off, so I recommend monitoring this. As you know, you always have the option to acquire the software updates via Smart Switch:

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-update-latest-software-for-your-galaxy-mobi...

If the issue does persist and if you'd prefer to download your software updates "over the air", then I'd recommend submitting an Error report, as this will enable our developers to take a closer look at this for you.

Should you ever need to submit an Error report, please launch the Samsung Members app > Tap Support > Scroll down and tap Error reports > Choose a category of Error report to submit > Complete the required details and then send the report by tapping the send icon.

I trust that doing this will help you get more clarity about what's causing this (if it does happen again, of course).

Thanks Paul. Hopefully it will resolve itself when updating next time.
