Galaxy Tab A Firmware Update

My Galaxy Tab A received a firmware update on 3 Nov. This crashed at 26% installation. Since then the tablet has been in a permanent loop where it wakes for a few seconds then goes back to a blank screen for a few seconds more.

I have been unable to switch the tablet off using the power/volume buttons. Smart Switch does not recognize the tablet when I attach it to my pc. I have tried letting the battery run down to nil but almost as soon as I plug it back in, the restart/switch off loop begins again.

Does anyone have any advice, please? I am aware that other people have had similar problems with this update but I haven't found a solution to my particular problem

Thanks in advance.

Hi there. Are you able to boot it in recovery mode ?

Thanks for the reply - no, unfortunately, the only response I get is a restart of the installation screen which crashes at 26%.

So what choices do you get displayed when you power it on by holding down both the power and vol down button at the same time (and keep them both help down until something appears on the screen)?
