Copy/paste between phone and tablet not working

Hi all,

I use this really handy feature on my phone and task key where I can copy and paste between both devices (I think nearby share or WiFi direct or something is involved somewhere along tut way). This past couple of days this feature seems to not work. Text gets copied but when I paste on my tablet it freezes up. Going from tab to phone works, but back this other way just doesn't any more.

Has anybody else experienced this at all? Any help aphid be appreciated.

I've just done this from my Tab S9 Ultra to S23U and vice versa and it worked perfectly. Don't ask me how it works ie wifi direct etc it just worked (must be some dark magic). The only setting I can think of is "continue apps on other devices" in the Connected devices menu. Have you also got all the latest updates on both devices?

Yep. Everything is up to date. It's just stopped working out of nowhere. Very frustrating.

What devices are you using for this, if you don't mind me asking. If we have the same I could try and replicate it here.

No problem and thanks for trying 🙂.

My tablet is a Galaxy S7 (Android 14) and my phone is an S23 Ultra (I think it's on 14...it updated recently).

Like I say, phone to tab doesn't work, tab to phone does, which is the most baffling part. I'm strongly considering a full reset for the tab over the weekend.

Thanks again!

Also just tried on my other Tab S8 Ultra to S23U and again working both ways. Yes, reset your tablet and post back. Clear the cache partition on both devices aswell before testing.

Hi, @ALSY. Do you happen to have Nearby device scanning toggled on? To do this, please open Settings > Connections > More connection settings > Nearby device scanning (toggle this on).

Additionally, this handy guide from Samsung US advises how you can utilise the Continue apps on other devices feature. This will allow you to copy and paste across each connected device:

Please let us know whether this helps.

Hey Paul, thanks for the help. The devices are seeing each other. All the settings above are enabled. When I copy from my phone I get the message "you can paste here or on your nearby device". But when I attempt to paste on my tablet, the paste button goes grey, like it's thinking about it, and then nothing happens. Sometimes the browser crashes.
