I really wish samsung were like the pixel and apple when it comes to software updates. I know samsung have more phone models but they could do it for the S series

I agree but they won't. Frankly, I think they slow update roll out purposefully when a new device is out. This is because they know that device upgrades now are merely incremental and in the real sense of the word aren't really upgrades merely a shining new iteration of the old device save few enhancements. Therefore, rolling early updates to older devices would definitely eat into the sale of the fresh devices as people would see no reason to upgrade or buy the newer device when the second hand market is saturated with way cheaper devices with the same software

Apple own iOS and Google owns android. It's literally impossible to get android updates as quick as them.
Although, Security updates sometimes reach Samsung devices before Pixel ones!! So, Samsung is ahead sometimes.
But when it comes to major updates. No. Samsung's OneUI is much more feature packed and a richer layer on top of stock android. It's not possible for Samsung to release a new android version quicker than Google themselves.
