According to the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA), recording conversations without consent in the UK is legal provided the recording is done for personal use, this includes telephone conversations.

However, problems can arise when such recorded conversations are shared to third parties without the consent of the participants of the conversation. It is an offence to sell recorded conversations to third parties or make public such conversations without the consent of the participants in the conversation.

It's not legal in the UK, it's totally illegal, and the only way to do it is to root your phone, then you'll lose software update, banking apps etc as soon a Knox gets tripped

That's all wrong, :A) It's legal for personal use, you cannot share it to third parties without permission ;
B) You do not need root, just download right official rom( BTU version is multi CSC) , for example Israel (ILO), India, Thailand etc. which has inbuilt call recorder
C) Doesn't trip Knox; updates, bank apps working well
