What is Solve for Tomorrow?

(Topic created on: 23-11-2021 04:24 PM)
Helping Hand

Solve for Tomorrow is a series of year-round learning experiences to give young people the opportunity to explore how technology can help tackle some of society’s biggest issues. The programme involves a range of activities, including On Demand courses,  events, and a community on Discord, all culminating in the Solve for Tomorrow competition

The competition is open to 16-25 year-olds living in the UK, regardless of previous experience or qualifications. All we are asking for is a brilliant idea, which uses technology to tackle an issue related to one of the four areas:

Alec.PNGLast year’s competition was won by Alec Conway, who created and developed, ‘Dignity’. His project addresses the social isolation faced by people experiencing homelessness by providing safe digital lockers with a built in PO Box. Alec’s lockers also provide access to vital resources such as maps, accommodation and details on food accessibility through a tablet that’s built into the locker. He received a prize of £10,000 and six months further mentoring to continue to develop his idea with Digital Catapult*, and is exploring partnerships to develop a functioning prototype.

Speaking about his development, Alec said:

“I can’t wait to take Project Dignity on to the next level. In the next few months, hopefully, we’ll see the first set of lockers being installed. I’d like them to be in London because that’s where the issue is most prevalent in the UK”.

The two runner-up teams were Curo, with the idea of a sustainable shopping platform, and GRO, who proposed a hydroponics system to help plants grow without soil.

I strongly believe that with Samsung's technology capabilities Samsung can build electric cars. What would you say?
