Not getting BBC iplayer using Samsung dongle

I have a Samsung smart tv UE40ES5500KX UE 40ES5500 40" TV bought in 2012 and at the same time I bought a Samsung WIS12ABGN Smart TV Wireless dongle. I have never used the dongle because I have a Sky LAN connector and never felt the need to watch Netflix etc. However I would now like to see these extra channels but the dongle does not seem to connect with the internet router. I am 80 years old so not very savvy with these things but the TV recognises that a dongle is there under the input sources but that is as far as it goes. Could anyone point me in the right direction

Thanks

Bill

Hi @Bill42 If you go to Network-Network Settings, select start and available Networks should be displayed.  If not connected Select your own Network and connect, click Next. You will need to enter a password if one has been set on your router and then the wifi connection should be verified.  Subsequently you should have access to the internet apps,as has been mentioned Netflix is no longer supported, not sure if you have Sky TV.  BBciplayer seems to be supported https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/questions/supported-devices/samsung#2012  but may well need to update the software, further details here https://digihelpdesk.co.uk/why-cant-i-get-bbc-iplayer-on-my-samsung-smart-tv-sony-models-also-affect...

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Hi Bill, I found https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/tv/updating-the-netflix-app-on-a-samsung-ue-40es5500-smart-hub-t...

It doesn't look as though the TV supports Netflix latest update but it is available on Sky and can be found in the On Demand menu or in Apps.
