Hi, I have an A16 with 4G but like my A13 it does not work in the US, VolTe only using 2G and 3G which no longer exists on the US. My provider is Sky but have had no help from them. Anyone know why this is at all? Unless I get another phone here I'm without one and travelling alone it's worrisome. Thanks in advance.

VoLTE is a 4G thing only and does not come when 2G and 3G, is being used.

Could you explain bit better?

Hi, thank you for reaching out. I can confirm VoLTE is switched on and under 'Network Mode' it says 'LTE/2G/3G (auto connect)'. Data roaming is on and select network is set to 'automatic'. Not sure what else there is.

Okay but again VoLTE is a LTE only feature. So once phone doesn't have LTE connection it will not use VoLTE since it's a LTE only feature. So question could be carrier in US that their band is not compatible on 4G/LTE on your phone which is why 4G/LTE isn't showing or appearing.

Since USA uses different band types than Europe and Asia.

Also i dont mean different in the way they dont use 2G, 3G, LTE/4G, 5G etc. I mean band number for these, each connection type has a band number, for example LTE in US has got: N71, N41, N261, B5, B4, N260, B2. If your A13 and A16 does not support any of these for 4G/LTE then it won't use 4G/LTE in USA since none of their 4G/LTE bands are supported.

Thank you once again for your insight. From further research I've also done I think it's a band issue too, referred to more commonly as regional in that the phones were purchased in the UK for use with those bandings. Samsung should warn people when purchasing because on initial Internet searches they quite clearly state it should work in the US. I don't think there's a way round the band issue is there.

Well phones may support it, but it could be a carrier decision on which band types they use. Could be possible carrier you using isn't using a supported band for 4G/LTE. So then your at this issue 😕
