WhatsApp wifi message

In the last few days I've had a message pop up saying 

 

WhatsApp can't connect using the current  Wifi network. Allow this app to use mobile data

My wifi is working  ok, I can use other apps with out any problems

 

I have submitted a feedback, with screenshot

I'm using whatsapp very regularly and on wifi, you sure it's not a wifi issue?

My wifi is ok, it happens about twice a day and only since having beta on my phone, it even happened on my works wifi, so I know it's not a wifi problem

I've started seeing the same issue also, timing did see to coincide with beta release but I'm imagining we need a WhatsApp update for the changes in Beta which will likely be around full release of One UI 2

Same here but only after a scheduled nightly restart.

Yup - same here - all other apps okay - I reckon it's a WhatsApp issue - not a major problem for me with the amount of Data I have....

I have been having this same issue for a couple of months now, but I believe it started before I joined the One UI Beta program. I have reported it before but no practical feedback yet

I have a theory I'm testing out... in wifi settings there is an advance setting to Randomise the MAC address of the device..

 

Tried changing it to keep the device address... I'll report backing it works!
