Does anyone now how to make the white bar at the side of the screen disappear its really off putting when playing a game .

If your referring to the Full Screen Gestures bar with the 3 little lines in it then you can disable Gesture hints in Display/Navigation Bar and disabling Gesture hints.
This obviously removes the bar altogether but does not impact gestures.
