Am I correct in assuming Google play system won't update during the beta

I just noticed is still on July update and say is up to date, tho another Android phone I have is now on September

Mine was updated on the 20th of October. I don't know why Google play services (if it's what you meant) wouldn't be updated during the beta. If anything you should have a more recent version than users outside the beta (but since they deliver the update via the playstore, I don't think so).

i meant google play system ...you can find it under - security - system updates

Hmm..  I just checked my device and on my Samsung Google Play system was also last updated on 1 July 2022 and there is no new update available. 🤔 

It seems that updates for the Google Play system only appear for the official software version.

Ah, yeah mine is also from July. I guess will see once the beta closes if updates to the latest.
